An eclectic gathering in attendance for our wedding

7 Jul

I am pleased to be able to announce that I am again a husband.

The wedding took place as expected on Saturday July 3rd. The bride was radiant and much too beautiful for a scalawag like myself but she said yes none-the-less!?! My son Mark was my best man, my new son Samuel was the ring bearer (and adores his new big brother), my new daughter Nicole was the flower girl (and adores my daughter-in-law Lana) and Janine’s father (Murray) gave her away.

It was indeed an eclectic gathering in attendance. The Pastor was Ace Clark, a good friend ~ past Sergeant-at-Arms for an outlaw motorcycle club, drug dealer, shot-gunned off his motorcycle to now the Director of the Hamilton Dream Center and Pastor of a thriving church ~ to those in attendance from a retired police chief, a retired Toronto police sergeant, retired prison guards, to Pastors, a past ‘lifer’ convict turn prison evangelist, Directors of Prison Ministries, a university professor, 84 year old ‘grand dame’ of my past church in Fonthill and everything in between – all long time good friends who came to stand beside me during this very special time.

And so a new direction and route begins in my journey of life – new husband and new father of a 13 year old boy and an 11 year old girl – new challenges to be faced and new pleasures to enjoy. God certainly has a great sense of humor and He has been very good to me in spite of me. And so it is well ~ well in my life and well in my soul.

Exciting news

26 Apr

Just want to share some exciting news with ya’ all. I was engaged to become married April 6th, this past month, to Janine. The wedding is due to take place in eastern Ontario early June or July depending on my circumstances here in Saskatchewan. I have known Janine since 1988, and Samuel 13 yrs and Nicole 11 yrs since their birth. They of course currently live in Ontario and I have asked my son Mark to be my best man.

Janine has been a friend, to not only myself, but also to my wife Noreen before she passed. In fact, when we still lived in Ontario, Janine had visited us at our cottage and we visited together often. We knew her husband as well and Noreen and I were hopeful when Janine and the kids followed him to England. Unfortunately he turned out to be quite a rascel and Janine and the kids returned back 8 years ago without a dollar or a dish to their name. Janine began all over again as a single mother; began a one person cleaning business, bought a car and then a home. Noreen and I most admired her for her character and for her overcoming. Often when Noreen and I vacationed in Ontario we would visit or whenever I spoke near Janine and the kids, we would contact and they would come out and visit. When Noreen passed last year, Janine and another close friend of Noreen and mine attended the internment. (more…)

Fall Session has just ended..

6 Dec

Fall Session has just ended…..the most raucous session in my two years. The new Leader of the Opposition, has little class and plays his politics with fear and smear attacks as well as personal insults. He goes for the negative and tear-down-type of politics regardless if it is good for the folk of the province or not.

Let me simplify how I see the ‘game’ of politics to be…..both parties are at ‘A’ and we want to get to ‘C’ – ‘C’ being policy and legislation for the betterment of the people and the operation of government – and where the parties differ is ‘B’ – which is the philosophy and political ideology of each party.
